2080 PROJECT

In 2021 Dwelling Place Regional Community Land Trust introduced the 2080 Union Project to community members, neighbors, and potential buyers. The development will bring 42 brand new homes to the Garfield Park Development. In July, 2023 DP-CLT announced that, after 2 years of fundraising, it had closed on the property and construction began in August.

2080 Union is the address of the property located south of the seminary’s former main building (located at 600 Burton) and south of the former St. Henry’s Hall and convent, both of which are now owned by Bethany Christian Services. The project was used as an athletic field for the seminary.

CONSTRUCTION IS UNDER WAY
Tom Dalton, who lives near the former St. Joe’s Seminary, is documenting the construction. His photos are presented in reverse chronological order, with the most recent images appearing first.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2023
Tom took the first four of these great photos on September 1 from the southeast third floor stairwell of old St. Joe’s (above the refectory). The first photo shows the former gym, now the offices of Samaritas Child and Family Services. The last photo was taken on July 27 before construction began. (Click on each photo for a larger view.)
